A short sticky tale
Dear Reptile Lovers,
My son Ryan received his first snake for his 13th birthday. It's a spotted python.
My hubby made him an enclosure for the snake, not really knowing much about them,he use duct tape to tape down the sides of a piece of board to the side of the tank where the had the heat lamp in.
The next morning my son's poor baby snake(only 8 weeks old at the time)got seriously stuck to it.
The heat from the heat lamp must of made it soft and the little snake wrapped himself around it well.
Not knowing what to do, we tried to soak it in warm water, but didn't help.We finally got in contact with a vet that specialises in snakes 40 mins away.
They said that well have to put him under ,to try to remove the tape using a solution, not knowing whether he was going to make it or not.
My son come home from school, devastated to find that he's loving pet was in surgery.
That late afternoon the vet rang and said he was doing fine, just really sore, he's muscles are very bruised from him trying to free himself and his skin is very dry from the solution they used.
When we brought him home he was so stressed he wouldn't eat in awhile ,but now he's 5mths old, growing and very strong.
My sons happy and so is Ziggy the snake.
We will never use duct tape around him again.
Yours Truly
Donna
