Care of Bearded Dragons
The bearded dragon, latin name Pogona vitticeps, lives in the drier regions of Australia in areas ranging from coastal forests to dry interior thorny scrublands.
They are found mainly in rocky, sandy locations and may even be observed close to human habitation.
Bearded dragons are semi-arboreal in the wild. In captivity they will also climb and cages with climbing areas will be used by them on a regular basis.
Whilst Australian bearded dragons can be kept together in groups without
too much trouble, it is a good idea to keep adult males in separate cages
as they may fight in a confined space for a territory. Many females will live
together happily. When they are young you can keep quite a number in a cage
but it is a good idea to watch that all of them get enough food when they
are fed.

If you keep a number of bearded dragon lizards together, it is a useful to provide a number of branches and rocks to climb on to reduce squabbling for the "best" vantage-points.
These are likely to be the highest, and two or more adult males may fight seriously to gain and maintain control of this branch.
Having a number of climbing areas in your bearded dragon cage will give your bearded dragons choice and so reduces the chance of fighting.
The bearded dragon terrarium environment you are trying to create should be a dry, "desert-like" environment, with places to climb and hide (eg rocky outcrops and hide caves). Like all reptiles, you will need to provide fresh water, preferably in two locations in a larger cage.
A useful trick to get dragons to drink is to lightly spray their vegetable food with water when feeding them.
